This is the text from a full page advert placed by "MicroProse Grand Prix" (yes that's the company name used) and HASBRO Interactive in this weeks
AUTOSPORT Magazine.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Will you qualify?

ARTISTS & PROGRAMMERS
EXCELLENT PLUS BIG-HITTER BENEFITS CHIPPING SODBURY, Nr BRISTOL

Following the recent signing of a major new deal with the legendary Geoff
Crammond and the FOA, we're looking to build the No.1 eam for racing
simulation development.

You're self-motivated and a professional.
You live and breathe creativity and quality.
You have a passion for developing games for the next generation platforms.
You understnad deadlines, are a strong communicator and enjoy working in a

Your track record speaks for itself.

Artists

You're a born natural in a couple of these;
texturing, lo-poly 3D modelling, graphic design and film editing.
Knowledge of 3DS MAX, Photoshop, Fractal Painter and AniPro would be highly
desirable.

Programmers

Your C/C++, PC assembler or Playstation programming skills are proven.
You'll also be up to speed with at least one of these;
3D effects/techniques, networking and multi-player, tools programming, UI
and AI.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that makes for interesting reading.

Key points:
1) Networking and Multi-Player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2) WTF is UI??
3)WTF is lo-poly 3D? (that one worries me)
4) The pure existance of this advert means that all our assumptions that Goeff Crammond has been privately working on GP3 the past few years and that is is fininshed and just awaiting the FOA license, well
they're ***aren't they.

I presume Geoff Crammond hasn't written much of GP3 yet because the advert asks for Programmers who can do 3D effects, and AI.
If the 3D and AI aren't done yet, then there isn't really much that has been done yet.
And if they need programmers for 3D and artists for 3D we can assume that GP3 will have it's own game and 3D engine, and will not borrow that used by GP500.

Oh, one final thing. If the game ain't wriiten yet, don't expect to see it for, well, we all know how long GP2 took.

Just trying to show the layout of the advert.
If you have that much of a problem with it don't look at it.

Did it really matter all that much? You don't own the space this is stored
on do you?

There was no need for that.

Frankly I'm glad for the info.

The Lo Poly 3D work shouldn't worry you at all. Low Poly means less than 100
polygons. A skilled 3D Artist can make a VERY good F1 car with 100 poly's.
I've spoken to people from Codemasters.  The cars in TOCA 2 and Colin McRae
Rally all have less than 60 polys!!!! And they look good!!

Doug

Wishing he was qualified as a Multimedia designer so I could go help them!!

It has been known by some folks in the industry that yes indeed Crammond
has been working on GP3 for some time now.  As a matter of fact he had
already paid programmers to help him code the program.  This was a
departure from his earlier work, where basically he worked alone with
some assistance from his brother and close associates.

The ad for artists and programmers, either means that the project is
close to wrapping up and they are looking for the team to put all the
pieces together, or that they are looking for a team to port the PC
version to Playstation.  I would hazard to guess it is the latter based
on information I have known about the progress of GP3.

This is true.  However, a lot of games these days are pushing the poly count
upwards, i.e. Rally Championship, to make the cars and tracks like the real
thing.

Rotflol..

I'd almost forgotten you and the fact that you was in my kill file. The
price I pay for getting a super new machine up and running I suppose.

Agreed the HTML might have been a but OTT but have you ever considered the
famous Outlook express double post syndrome?

BTW. I think that you should stay on topic with your posts. Remember that
this is a NG for sims <G>
I suggest that you go and find out if there is a NG like
alt.lego.toycars.for.big.kids. Correct me if I am wrong but I suspect there
is no***pit view.
hahahahahahahahaha

How about disclosing some of this "information"? Or is it TOP SECRET?
