F1rs and Kali. OK, One more try at this. Is anyone out there?

A friend and I have been trying to get F1rs to work on Kali for some time
now.  We've been looking around for information on how to play it but can't
seem to get BOTH players in the game.

Does anyone know how to get this working?  Both of us are relatively
literate when it comes to things like this.  Played lots of other games on
there, I even built a Kali Server.  With all the FAQ's in the world, we must
be missing something, but, obviously, can't tell what.

Anyone who has experience with this, please post your game configuration
from Kali so we may use it.

I have found a bunch of other people who have the same problem as we do, and
a few who say they've gotten it to work.  Just the ones who say it works,
don't seem to reply.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Best I've achieved so far has been 6 in a single race. 2 got booted
during the race but I think 4 finishing is still a record ;-)

F1RS seems very susceptible to dropped packets :( The best settings I
have found is to have both of the 'dropped packet' check boxes UNCHECKED.
But it is still a bit touch and go.

If either of your connections is regularly dropping packets though,
you've probably had it. Do a ping test and see how many time outs you get
between each other. If it's a significant number you've probably had it
I'm afraid and your only option would be to get a better connection
method or try another ISP.

Drop by the #f1rs channel at Where to Race and you should find quite a
bunch of F1RS drivers. Even if you can't get going with your friend, you
both may be able to race against other drivers if yuo have better
connections to them.

Cheers,
Richard

Dear Phil,

I wish I could give you some technical details about my Kali\F1RS
setup.  Truth is, I don't know that much about the intricacies of
pings and packets...all I can tell you is that when I installed the
Kali Software, it scanned my hard drive and loaded up Nascar2 on the
launch bar.  Next, I simply supplied the path to f1voo.exe in the game
setup window, using Kali defaults (the packet settings UNCHECKED).
The sim launched fine and we were online playing multiplayer.
If you haven't done so already, you might want to check out the site
www.nh.ultranet.com/~alison/sims, which contains a section with
detailed instruction for sucessfully launching F1RS from Kali,

Good Luck,
Ben Sides

Thanks very much.  Just got it working.  It seems the trouble we had was to
do with our ping.  We also couldn't get Canada working and that was the
track we tried together.
