I was watching an .avi of this, and noticed towards the end there is a
kick ass shot of a blue car flying through the air spinning around.  I
was also looking at a Spanish preview of this game (looking being the
key word, since I cant read Spanish) and noticed a shot of the car
upside down.
I did read earlier in this group though that the sim didnt model cars
flipping.
So my question is, do they?  Anyone know where I can get some other
screenshots of an .avi of this?  Thanks!  (I love watching the GPL
preview .avi of the car crashing and burning)

I've flipped my car several times! I've got some screen shots at home of a
pile-up at Monaco, and there is a car upside-down in the front of the pile.
If I remember to post it, I will tell you where to find it.

I've flipped many times.  Of course half the time I flip, it's done
purposely.  It's easy to do.  Race a fast track that has a good
straight-away like the beginning of Spa.  Make sure your going pretty
fast and have another racer beside you, then slide over so that your
tires rub against their tires and WHAMO!! ... Instant flip.

I've flown off the track into mid-air and have also flip the car
upside-down while the cars momentum was going forward -must have
lasted about 3 seconds (approx 50 yards).

Now that's wild racing :)

Yeah, I've flipped a few times. Unfortunately, it's a bit hard to do,
but there are a couple of spots where you'll get your car landing upside
down.

One is in Brazil- when coming down the pit lane, keep the pedal floored
but don't steer. When the limiter comes off and you drive straight into
the pit wall on the exit, your car will fly up in the air, sometimes
coming down upside down.

The other is Spa, on the way down to Eau Rouge. When you are going
downhill you'll see just before Eau Rouge there is an escape road to the
right. Drive straight into the armco head-on... that'll certainly put
you upside down :)

There is a screenshot I took when I flipped in F1RS. You can see it at
http://gamepad.org/
It doesn't happen often, but it is a wild ride when it does!

Yes, its quite easy to flip when touching wheels.  Its also easy when
there isn't the downforce from the front wing present.  I once lost
the front wing at Monico, and when going farly fast up the hill, the
front started lifting off the ground.  I could of slowed down, but
didn't and the front end kept going higher until it flipped over.

Is it realistic to be able to flip this easily?  I saw a screenshot last
night of a car flying about 30 feet in the air after ramming head on at
high speed into another car.

And does anyone know when this game is gonna be released in the US?  I
ordered my copy yesterday, so I hope it's soon... I'm on spring break in a
week and a half as well... maybe when I get back?

Realism is difficult to determine since its possible to do completely
absurd and unrealistic things in a sim that no sane driver in real
life would do.  As for becoming airborne when touching wheels, I've
seen quite a few of those in watching F1 races, (although the last few
years its seems to have become less).

Perhaps I shouldn't have said that it is easy to become airborne
without a front wing since it doesn't happen in normal flat
conditions. This occurs after accelerating hard up the second long
straight in Moncao, and cresting the top of the hill at about 250 kph.
It would seem to me that it is quite reasonable to expect a car to
become airborne in these conditions.  When the front wing is missing,
there is a great loss of down force obviously.  Once the air catches
the bottom of the car, it is reasonable to expect the car to flip
over.  There was plenty of warning that the car was going to lift off
and if wouldn't of occurred if I hadn't deliberately kept on
accelerating.  So, I think this demonstrates the amount of physics
that F1RS models in the aerodynamics, and doesn't just use canned
rules when at high speed (like it seems to do at very low speeds).
