Need help painting CART2K cars in ICR2

I can't seem to get the PAINT2K.bat utility to work properly. Whenever I
attempt to select a car for underbody painting, the paintshop flips back
to the startup screen. No tools or color palette selector will ever
appear, either. I'm running the program in DOS and have followed all the
instructions. Beats me what I could be doing wrong. Anyone have any
tips?
