Are you having trouble finding a way to get a picture scanned in your
computer so you can add your pic next to your car in NASCAR 2? I was.
I have a friend who has a scanner, but I couldn't get to his house.
Kinko's wanted $9.95 to scan one of those Wal-Mart photo booth pics.
Plus, those photo booths cost $2.
Do what I did. Take a 3.5 inch disk to Office Depot and ask to see
their digital camera display. My local OD had a display of about 5
cameras hooked to an HP Pavillion computer.
Wear your racing jacket or a solid colored jacket and button it or zip
it all the way to the top to get that "racing jumpsuit" look. Hold the
camera for a "portrait" shot, as opposed to a "landscape" shot. If
you're uncertain about what this means, experiment with the "Portrait
-Landscape" setting of your word processor's page set-up to get an
understanding. You will fit better as a portrait. Hold the camera
slightly over your head so you won't get those bright white washouts of
lights behind you. It would really help later if you found a solid
background. It took me two hours with PSP 4.12 to get rid of the
shelves behind me. Smile.
The program my OD uses is QV-link or something like it. You will think
you can only save the picture as a .CAM file. But, you'll have to use
the RETOUCH feature to save it as a Bitmap or a JPEG file. To do this,
either hit the "Retouch" icon or go to IMAGE then RETOUCH on the control
bar. Save it on the harddrive as what ever name you choose. For some
reason, I couldn't save it directly to the A drive. Then minimize
QV-Link and open up "My Computer". Open the QV-Link folder on the C
Drive. You should see the icon of your picture. Drag and Drop it to
the A Drive. After a very small amount of cropping, my picture was
900k. Click on the A Drive icon to see if it copied. Don't forget to
take the 3.5 inch disk with you.
For directions how to load the PCX into NASCAR 2, go to
http://www.racesimcentral.net/;This is a
link from the IWCCCARS page. You may already have directions. I know I
had these and they worked. This not my site (I don't have one) so don't
think I'm trying to trick you into coming to my site.
