NASCAR 99 and Bad Collision Detection? And other Sierra Gripes...

I have been in wrecks (caused by the AI) where all the AI cars
wrecked. So I don't have a clue what the problem is. Maybe the
program calculates which cars would have survived?

Tonight I was racing in NASCAR 99 and caused a big pile-up.
Went back and reviewed the wreck and so something odd.
After 7 or 8 cars crashed into a pile, the other cars would go THROUGH
the wreck as if they didn't exist.
I thought maybe it was a bug.
Rebooted tried a new race.
Same thing.. Once 5 to 8 cars get in a wreck, the rest of the cars
pass through the crash.
Then I thought, well maybe 3dfx is using a Z-buffer, so I ran the
non-accelrated .exe.
Same thing.
What the hell is up with that?
That takes a lot of the realism away.
I bet real nascar drivers wish they could no that.

And for the nay-sayers, Yes I have all graphics on, full realism, full
damage.
Try it your self and see.. Cause a big pile up.. after the 7th or so
car crashes, start watching the other cars that SHOULD be slamming
into the pile0up go right through cars.
This stinks...
I do NOT remember NASCAR 2 doing this. I sold N2 to get N99

While I'm harping on Papy/Sierra, how come in Cart Racing you can't
get full screen replay's?
You could in Indy Car 2.. I thought Cart Racing was the same except
ported to Win95 and no Indy Licensing.
And don;t say they can't do full screen replay's, N99 has full screen
option.
Could someone please help on the 2 points above?
Thanks a lot.

the wreck as if they didn't exist.
I thought maybe it was a bug.

It's a bug that appears in every software that Papyrus does (ok except Soda
but they only produced it, and Indy500 back in 89).  Every other title uses
some same core stuff for the game engine, so it's a limitation of it.  Yes
even in GPL you can have cars go through the others, but it's pretty rare.

get full screen replay's?

Because the Windows port of Icr2 is not very good compared to the Dos
version.  Install the Dos version of CART racing (check the CD).  It's the
summum of GUi. You can't have a more perfect GUi than Icr2 DOS ;-)
(naysayers say it doesn't.. but after 3years of  fast menus with the arrows
and Enter/Esc, it can't be better than this.. well except you can't change
options without staying in the weekend).

Sorry i cant help on the N99 question.  I havent been driving it long enough to
see a huge pile up like that yet.

As for the CART racing replay issue you have to click on the little video
camera icon on the left hand menu to get full screen replays.  If this doesnt
work then i dont know what is wrong.

I have N2 and N99 and I have seen this with both, it isn't a big problem,
cars do sometimes drive through others, it is all to do with the .lp files,
if their 'dodge accident' path is crossed over by a 'just racing here' then
the two cars do not theoretically make contact, GPL this is not a problem,
you WILL have an accident, as the lp files in GPL are open to computer
manipulation, but in N2/99 they are SET racing lines, which the computer
will NEVER go from, I always changed my lp files once a month or so with n99
as I start to begun to know what the AI cars were going to do at a certain
situation.

Anyway, have fun with these games, they are great games (sorry -
simulations), and I have had my fun with them, I am racing GPL all the time
now, but once N3 comes out you'll see me play nothing else I assure you of
that!!!

There is no DOS version on the CD.. Only Win95 :(
Is it supposed to have a DOS version?

It still doesn't get you full screen replays like in the DOS version
of ICR 2
All you get is a bordered screen with camera controls, camera
selection and car selection.
I want the DOS version, but unfortunately, only the Win95 version
appears on my CD, and I can't find the ICR2 version in any store.

Is it Cart Racing in the All American Sports package? if so, then no it
doesn't come with the dos .exe's.
