I'd give my left driving glove and a year's back issues of Classic &
Sports Car if some genius would make some new cars for SCGT that model a
handful of 60's sports cars.  I watched an hour of old-timer racing on the
german sports network last night.  Lotus Elans, Porsche 911s, Shelby
GT-350s, TVRs, BMW 2002s, Mini Coopers, Alfas, Sprites ... a completely
mixed bag, and great fun to watch.  Seeing a Lotus Elan slip under the
Shelby in the *middle of Eau Rouge* at racing speed; that was something.

So, how about it?  Start modestly with a mini Cooper patch?

There already is a 60's vintage Cortina available.  It's not so much a
patch as just molding the 3d shape and creating the proper textures and
vehicle files.  SCGT is a very expansive sim.  Current projects include
a complete set of Aussie V8 Touring Cars.  A Super Touring set, a LeMans
Prototype group, a Set of Champ cars for CART, there is a Trans Am
group, you name it...
and...N99 has a mini-Cooper car set.  Add that to the converted cart
tracks and/or the TPTCC touring car patch and you get a-lot of road
racing.

littleracer.com has the cortina.  Tho to be really submersive you need to
mess witht he veh file a bit.  I dropee the hp figures a bit and worked on
bars, and its a great car to drive inn the 60 sim mode which is in the
advanced options from ISI.  Its really a fun sim and in the 60s mode you
really have to work to get good laps out of the cortina.  Lots of throttle
feather and threshold braking.

Would it be possible to make a 60's - 70's Can Am car set?  That is, can the
shapes include a high wing?

The shapes available can be anything you wish - from a 21-window microbus to a
747's possible (although I doubt the 747 would handle well at such low altitude
;-)).

I have a '70 Boss 302 available at TSP:  http://www.simracing.com/simproject

Cheers!

Is it possible to put together a "spec race" with SCGT?  Can someone point
me to a FAQ for this.  Suppose I want nothing but a field of Cortinas and
maybe some other cars that eventually get created.  How do I make sure I
race only against them, with no rogue 1999 BMWs creeping in?  And can I
get them to perform appropriately?

thanks

Refering to the Can-Am cars of the 70s,whatever happened to the two
Can-Am sims that were to released one after another. For a while someone
involved with the project was posting regularly, now nothing. Did these sims
go the same unfortunate route as the Trans-Am sim ?
