Can't stop LWFF autocalibration upon WinXP boot

by GLege » Sat, 09 Feb 2002 16:56:58

No matter how I set the options, my LWFF wheel will always autocalibrate
when windows xp boots. I know there is an option to turn this on or off, but
even when I turn it off, it still does it.  I know this isn't a really big
deal, but in the long term, when the wheel hits the stops that hard, its
bound to create some wear.  I'm using driver version 4.11.328.  Are any of
you guys having this difficulty?

I'm using the LWFF with Win98SE for the past 2 years or so, and it
auto-calibrates upon every boot-up.  I never considered that it might be a
problem.  It's been running problem-free all that time.  (knock wood...)

BRH,
you can switch off auto-calibration (let's call it bang-bang) in Windows/game
controllers/<Logite..>/settings.
Normally autocal is not a problem, but in my ball-bearing wheel it really scares
me, due to the low inner resistance it knocks extremely ***ly.

GLeger,
I had the same problem when changing to XP.
I solved it by going back to Win98 ;-)
Anyhow, games were running much slower in XP. When having a 36 fps in GPL in
Monaco (all 3D-wheels, detail slider at half, back of the grid) in Win98SE, it
went down to 30 in XP.

Sorry, cannot help you further.
