  If they don't, why do cars that get into schmozzle's(technical term
curtesy of David Hobbs) run to the pits for repairs?

Fer sure they do. I'm using the visual damage patch so it's very
obvious when they get crunched and have to limp back to the pits. Of
course I'm *never* involved when these things happen ;-)

I don't know if the AI driving model is hampered by damage, but I *do*
know that they react to damage.  I've seen cars pit to fix damage
after they get involved in a *** accident...

I have a very strong suspicion they do because everytime they get in a wreck I
see them go into the pits for what I would assume to be repairs.  So the answer
to your question is...it would appear they do...but im not positive.
