Hawaii...Yesss!!

I have finally managed to procure a (working) copy of Hawaii, and have
connected...and I can truthfully say that it is, without a doubt, the BEST
experience I have had yet on my computer.  The thrill of actually racing
SOMEONE instead of racing bits and bytes is intense.  My first race was
Atlanta, and, although I finished 7th out of 14th, it was still
exhilarating.  I have since worked on my setups a bit (until I can qualify
better than tenth-from-last), and plan to go at it again...A few races
later, I think it was Michigan, I experienced my first crash...I was
trailing a guy in Kenny Schrader's car for several laps...Lap after lap,
drafting him, watching his line closely.  When I thought I knew what was
what, I went for it...I went a little hot into the corner, and came up
along side him perfectly.  I was all set to made a beautiful pass when the
back end of my car twitched a little, and my right-rear caught his left
door.  He was instantly knocked into the wall, causing quite a melee
behind me...I will have to apologize to him (although he was gracious in
understanding my situation), but I still feel bad.  I will, overall,
though, say that I really enjoyed my experience...Thanks to Papyrus and
everyone on the system (Sunday night, the 4th of August) for giving me a
great time...

It's an incredible rush, isn't it? The first race I won, the last couple of
laps I had so much adrenaline going, my right leg kept bouncing up and down
on its own, I could hardly keep my foot on the throttle.

Once you get a little experience under your belt, you should consider
joining a league. With the concern you expressed over wrecking someone
else, you sound like someone who would fit right into the league format.
When you race week after week with the same drivers, you tend to be a lot
more careful making your passes. Also, most of the drivers spend the week
preparing for the race, so the competition is a little bit tougher, and it
will definitely force you to work hard to be competitive.

Hey Guys!

I remember way back to last Friday at Sears Point, my left leg bounced its way
into a cramp that lasted the last 12 laps!<G>

Heck, I still get nervous at the start of a race, Bill. Not quite as much
as I used to, but it usually takes a lap or two before I get in the rhythm
and get calmed down. Except Martinsville, I'm ready at the get-go at
Martinsville. <g>

I bet if you polled the WC drivers, you'd probably find that most of them
still get a little bit antsy at the start.

I think Earnhardt's leg probably bounces at Sears, Terry. <g>

After spending all week practicing for Sears, I got to like the place.
'Course it got a little lonely up there at the front. <g>

Truly, the mark of a good simulator.... These "war stories" are not unlike what you
hear drivers of real cars talk about.

Last night I was racing Nascar on the converted Portland track from ICR2, and when my
wife came down and asked me a question, my first thought was, "how did she get ahold of
my intercom channel?"
Naturally, I wrecked spectacularly as my brain was trying to make sense of the
conflicting information.

It's something the real Nascar drivers don't have to worry about.... they don't have
their wife ask them to take out the trash while they're on turn 3...

I have an external modem and if the wife sees the "lights a flashin'" while I'm
racing, she doesn't come near me. She says that is when I'm in my "possessed"
mode!<g>  I mean who really gives a damn what the rest of the world is doing
when you got 10 guys around you trying to kill you!<g>

Would you two knock it off, or move to another news group.
I don't think you are very appreciated around here after posts

winning a pick uip race is a thrill but winning a league race has to be
one of the best feelings.  its alot more enjoyable when you win when you
race against the same guys each and every week...

I just can't wait until they get a similar service in Europe.
I am just soooo close to call Hawaii. FYI: I live in Norway.

A friend of mine calls from Scotland at times... Dedication!!
