There are two separate fixes which are in MULTI.EXE.  First was
equalization of analog and digital throttle traction; second was the weight
balance over time bugfix.

What about us poor slobs that can't afford the Long Distance charges.
Don't we deserve to have some of these bugs fixed in our stand alone
version of NASCAR?  Come on guys be fair to us to.

I agree - NASCAR 2 won't be out until the fall at the earliest, so how
about a patch until then? How hard can it be if the bugs are found and
fixed already?

OK, fine, but what about those of us running V1.21, do we get an update to
fix these problems?

You can download the new Multiplayer race files and run multi.exe
instead of nascar.exe.  The multi version will work fine without hawaii
and you'll get the bug fixes you want...

Yes, but with it you can't run a single player race against AI drivers.
Unfortunately, you are limited to only preseason testing and modem
racing.

But that's only pre-season testing isn't it?

I'd like to see these two problem sorted out in Version 1, too. The other
features can wait for NASCAR 2, but it's a real pain having to maintain 2
sets of setups for each track.

You can also use it for modem racing.  The best thing is the addition of
the tow truck.  Before, if you got damaged and couldn't make it back to
the pits (damaged rear wheel, or blow engine), your car would stay on
the track forever.  This caused a continual yellow for your human
partner, making the race effectively over.  This was extremely
frustrating when it occurred near the end of a long race.

This works fine for modem racing (I believe, haven't tried it), but you
can't race against AI either single race or championship season. I would
like to be able to use AI races to sharpen my traffic skills for
multi-player, but the setups are so different, I don't think it would do
much good. My MP Martinsville setup feels like the car is on rails, but the
SP setup is all over the place, from loose to tight, depending on how many
laps I've turned.

I do hope we get an interim release of NASCAR before the fall. I don't
think it will discourage anyone from purchasing NASCAR 2, since the other
improvements (track fixes, better frame rates, Win'95 client, better stats,
etc) will be compelling enough in themselves.

There has been a lot of discussion about track fixes in the Hawaii chat
room. Everybody wants the aprons and tri-oval fixed at Talladega, but there
are other tracks that need improvements, like T1 at Phoenix, Darlington
(too wide and slippery) as well as several others. A lot of this has come
out of MP racing. The AI cars politely move over if you get a fender under
them (usually) and run side-by-side without ever touching. But human
drivers have to obey the physics models and don't drive sideways to get out
of your way, so it's very important for the tracks to be right to allow
side-by-side racing between human opponents. So, I think the good news
about Hawaii is that everybody will see improvements as a result of what's
being learned.
