I suprised someone hasn't tried to license the Quake III engine and make a
"Pit Crew" sim. You could have multiplayer teams of whatever formula is
do-able. i.e a server full of Nascar pit crews. Unfortunately, due to FIA
restrictions, the 22member F1 Pit Crew 2002 teams would have to play
themselves since FIA licensing prevents F1 Multiplayer. The server could
generate yellows or long greens and the pit-boss/crew-chief would have to
decide what changes to make. Then it's over the wall. Instead of a Nail
Gun you have the Air Wrench and the dreaded Car Jack.
Teams could practice on their own servers and then compete against other
crews(F1 excepted of course) and see who's the best Cart or Winston cup
crews. IRL would have to be on their own server to prevent CART crews from
comming over and winning the PitWars.
Of Course Rallye Pit Crew brings it's own programming challenges because
there are no walls to jump over.
Hard coded challenges could be added. i.e. the F1 crew could only bring 3
tires out and one member would have to jump over the wall and run to the
back of the garage and get another one...oops no walls in F1 either. hmmmm
Of course if they do beat themselves they do get to jump ON the outside
pitwall and cheer as their driver races past.(note the still sadly lacking
'jumping OVER the wall')
Endurance Pit crew would be limited to 3 people the two tire changers
having to wait til all the fuel is in. Except when the server decides to
bring a car in for repairs. Then untold #'s of Endurance Pit Crew members
can swarm over the car and replace each and every decal, *** and engine
part.
Please note, I have just decided as I write this to copyright this idea,
and am actively searching for some lucky code-weasel to bring it to life.
Since I may already owe the IRS a very large chunk of cash, and licensing
deals will need to be worked out with the Rainbow Warriors, I can't offer
too much pay to begin with. But I'm sure some sort of profit sharing can be
arranged
