Appropriate position for slower drivers?

Appropriate position for slower drivers?

It is still common courtesy for most off-pace drivers to stay HIGH on most
ovals (Darlington a noted exception).

Everyone has to work together in these situations.  It's EVERYONE'S
responsibility, not just the passers or the passee's.

My suggestion would be to move high if you have time. But, if you find
yourself in a position where they are right on you then you should just hold
your line and let them find their way around you. If they *** about it
tell them there is more than 1 line and they need to find another since you
are using that one. (-:

Hehe, I aspire to the day that I have to make a decision on passing someone
on-line! I've got the hot key ready just in case.

Drive a normal line, it's up to them to watch how you're driving and
find a way around.

If someone hits you from behind and you're not swerving like a madman
then it's not your fault.  People will *** at you about it and
demand that you do a better job of getting out of the way, but making
the pass, even on a lapped car, is their problem not yours.

Mike makes a good point, which I was illuding to when I said "Don't change
your mind at the last minute".  Well, second is probably more accurate :)

Suprises are not thought well of :)

NASCAR will black flag ya if youre too slow (off pace for the PC) but NR2003
will not.  It's up to you to make the final judgment on whether youre ready
for online racing.  By the questions youre asking its ez to see youre not
going to be a wrecker ;)  No matter how well you *Hold* your line if youre
20MPH off the pace you will be a hazard to all in the race.

Hehe, thanks Mitch. I'm fast enough, just not comfortable drafting online
yet. So I'm not going to be in the superfast group. I'm focusing on Daytona
right now and my impression is that you've got to get into a good drafting
situation to really do well there.

If you can't at least follow somebody in a draft, you need to practice
more offline.  Set up some AI races and start at the back.  Practice
staying in the draft until you can at least keep up with them at 98%
or so.  On the way to that goal, you should start to figure out how to
pass too.  A second exercise is to try to qual in the middle of the
pack (turn down the AI if you need to) and practice not starting "the
big one".  The first lap is where almost all of the BS I see online
gets started.  A lot of this is because of warp, but a lot of it is
just people (and it only takes one) making mistakes.

The only way to get comfortable with the aero effects is to actually
race in the middle of a pack.  You wont learn it riding around by your
lonesome.  The AI is a great learning tool; use it to your advantage.

racin you soon,
Gerald

One thing I'm finding Gerald is that offline and online play feels really
different.  When offline with the AI (97% for me, Im a wimp) the push is
quite bad outta 4 yet online I can keep her down pretty easy outta 4.  Could
be other factors also as I didnt pay too close attention to the weather and
the like.
