HAHAHAHAHA Glide and GeForce HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA. If u wanna play GPL
the only card that will do the job is the Voodoo5, GeForce supports glide
just as well as it supports FSAA.

There is a D3D patch for GPL now and it runs fine on a Geforce2. But,
you are right about the FSAA. I had a Geforce2, but took it back for a
V5. Glad I did because the Nvidia drivers are buggy crap.

Just a small point, before I upgraded to a V5, my V3 was giving me better
frame rates than I now get with the V5.

NOT TRUE!!! Running GPL with the new D3D patch and a GeForce-2 Kills the
Voodoo-3500(glide), I tried both. I don't have a Voodoo-5 but we all know
the GeForce-2 is faster anyway.

I have both the V5 and Geforce 2 and I dont know that the GTS is
faster...its faster in some games and slower in others. Sort of the
way its been thru most of this competition between the cards.

Hmmm

My GF2 plays GPL just perfectly with the D3D patch. 1024*768*36fps constant.
Can't ask for better.

Yup, no need for the V5 anymore, hehe.
I like NVidia better (although I have had a V1, V2 and now a Banshee),
because it's OpenGL-targeted, and oh oh oh that's so much better than
D3D and Glide. Hmm, let's explain that a little; D3D is obese and
complex and quite sucks at targeting hardware implementations (doing
your own rotation math, hah!). And Glide is ok, but still is bad
because it is 3Dfx only, unless you use wrappers. Which is BAD DESIGN,
I tell ya, VERY BAD DESIGN. Can't believe companies still are
designing this kind of niche-targeted stuff. No future.

[snip]

I've finally decided. I've put in an order for the Hercules 3D
Prophet II (nVIDIA GeForce2 GTS). It was a toss up between this, the
Asus and the Creative GeForce2 GTS cards. In the end, I thought that
I'd make use of the S-Video output from the Hercules.

So how many racing sims do you own that use OpenGL? I own four racing
sims and many flight-sims that use glide. If you were me which video
card would you buy? Don't answer that, it's a trick question. BTW,
Voodoo can do OpenGL too if the need arises. But, as I look through my
game collection I can't find one game that use OpenGL so it is a moot
point at this moment in time.

Ehm, 0?! What a shame. :)

I would eh.. oh, I plead the 5th. ;-)

Quake3. ONLY OpenGL. And it's a killer app, fortunately for my case.
;-)
But really, let time tell; in the longer run, just D3D and OpenGL will
survive. They tried to mix it btw into Fahrenheit, until SGI stepped
out. 2 different companies with very diverging philosophies.
Glide is just too proprietary, and their cards are not as upfront as
they used to be. Fortunately.
