worked great with this setup and GPL under Windows 98, except Windows
98 :-)
I upgraded to XP and now I have a problem. If I plug in only the
Force RS, the Force Feedback works. If I plug in the pedals and
shifter, it doesn't.
I tried Nascar 4 to see what would happen because it has better
(newer) force feedback support. Again, if only the wheel is plugged
in, the Force Feedback checkbox in the setup screen is enabled. If I
add the pedals and shifter, the checkbox is disabled.
When only the wheel is plugged in, it shows up as the first (only)
controller in the windows joystick dialog, and it responds as Axis 0
in the N4 calibration screen. When I add the pedals and shifter, the
wheel is moved to the bottom of the list in the joystick control
panel, and the steering axis in the N4 calibrator shows as Axis 5. My
theory is that N4 and GPL insist on having the force feedback device
on Axis 0.
So, finally, here'e the question: how do I force the Force RS to be on
Axis 0, or failing that force GPL to look at Axis 5 for the force
feedback controller?
Act-Labs punted on this question.
