ICR2 is great, but what are some drivers missing?

Specifically:
     Jacques,
     Andretti,
     and Teo.

Thanks,

As far as I know Papyrus just didn't get the rights to use these cars in
their game. All we can do is wait for the _real_ '95 car set which hopefully
will be on the net soon ;-)

Bye, Michael

sounds like a lot of work. perhaps people working on this could announce
themselves and work together. someone could coordinate and assign cars to
people to paint. i haven't got the game yet (until 11 dec!)so don't know
how much work is involved, but the cars in the demo look pretty detailed
to me!

So what's the problem???  Papyrus ALWAYS does that!  In ICRI, they had
Nick Montel instead of Nigel Mansell.  In NASCAR, Dale Earnardt (The
Grand Champion II) was missing.  You are just going to have to wait a
few weeks for the CARS95.ZIP to come out.  I am sure it will be posted
as soon as possible at ftp://didn.doit.wisc.edu/icr\icrII

No shit, and what about Paul Tracy....
They probably didn't have the rights to the names of sponsers, but you
can't trademark a "public"  figure's name.  They could have left the
name, number, and the color of the car in the game, and just changed
the logos... like they did in the original INDYCAR RACING!
And some of the drivers that they put in the game... Andrew Craig,
give me a break, the President of the PPG CART association??
Anyways, hopefully somebody has made something close to the 1995
season.

On the up side, I thought that having Andrew Craig as a driver in a CART
simulation was pretty funny.

Actually, you can. Most of the drivers retain the rights to their name and
likeness and you have to license them or you can get sued.

Someone made the comment to me that licensing must be a swear word to us.
My response was that you don't know the half of it...

Well, I think the problem is,is that there are a total of at least 12
drivers missing:  Jacque, Michael, Paul, Teo, Eliseo, Adrian, Eddie,
Eric, Dennis, Alessandro, Christian, and Dean.
Not to mention, for a twist, one could add the following (from the
super-speedways):  Scott, Stan, Lyn, Jeff, etc...
Nearly forty percent of the drivers from the 95' series are not in the
game.

Too bad, now I am just going to have to use this "buggy" DOS
paintkit and make my own...

Thats because all those guys mentioned have the "Professional Sports
Figure Syndrome". In other words, they want MONEY in order for Papyrus
to use their name. I don't blame Papyrus for not using them in the sim.
Besides, whats the big deal, your racing the sim, not Andretti (good
thing too, he would probably hit the saftey truck anyway).

Maybe yes -- Maybe no.  Sometimes the driver has no control over this.
It may be tied in with some contract with the sponsor or the team owner.

As regarding MA,  I am more concerned that he would hit me!

I've heard that the rights on Jacques last name (I don't use it cause I
don't want to be sued !) were taken during Gilles career (you know
F1...), probably Jacques has no control on that himself...
