GPL looks real bad on a P3 with a Diamond 770 Ultra.

Is there a software patch available? N3 looks great but
this is bad.

I use that exact combo and GPL looks fantastic.....look through this group
for instructions.....to be brief you minimally need the opengl patch beta2
or the brand spanking new D3D patch which blows the OpenGL version away.
Both files require the editing of core.ini....
