I am a F1 fanatic like most of you here. In fact, it is the only series that
I care to watch! I have World Circuit 1.05 and run it with a 386/33 8mb ram
system. I have a 14.4k modem, and race against a friend with a similar system
configuration. However, the problem is that when we connect, all seems fine,
but we cannot run a quick race, we can't qualify, practice, or anything. The
ONLY thing we can do is race (thank god!), but this is limiting in the sense
that we always start at the back of the grid. We are effectively stuck this
way. What happens is as follows: we load up, connect our systems, and go to
the championship race series. Then we go directly to race, but have to press
ESC to correct a "data mismatch" error that the program gives us upon sending
the data prior to sitting on the grid. So we "attempt recovery" and return
to the grid. All is fine now. From this point on, we can race without trouble.
So, my question is, how do we fix this bug that is preventing us from doing
the other areas, such as qualifying and setting up the car differently for each
track? Obviously, this is a key problem for purists such as my friend and I. ;)
I don't have a 16550 UART, but I have no communications problems otherwise. I
send data to systems without errors, so I don't think this is the cause. I have
the F1ED program in use, but since all of you use it, I don't think that is a
problem either. We have tried all baud rates, 2400-19200 with the same results.
We ensure that data compression/error correction is off. So, my problem has
ended up here, among fellow F1 nuts... Please, if you can offer a solution to
this, I would be most grateful! Has anyone out there experienced such a
problem?
Thanks for the help,
