Wireplay and GP2, Indycar, Nascar etc

>I have just noticed in the UK that Wireplay has gone online. At the
>moment they are supporting Descent etc but also Indycar 1 + 2.

I took part in the Wireplay trial which ran until the end of
September. I tried to play Indycar 2 several times and a couple of
even managed to connect up with my opponent. However, the latency was
so bad that the computer cars were jerking all over the place for the
person who was dialling rendering the game unplayable. I have played
the game successfully via a direct modem link with no such problems.

Latency is a big problem on Wireplay. Even Duke Nukem 3D which is much
less sensitive to delay is mostly unplayable. The Wireplay software
itself is bugged, locks up frequently and leaves lost clusters all
over your hard drive for good measure.

In my opinion Wireplay is a wasted opportunity for BT. In its current
form it is a complete waste of money. I have removed the software from
my hard drive and thrown away the CD it came on.

By all means try it out for yourself. It may improve with time - but I
was on the trial for 6 months and saw virtually no improvement.
