having anything like "control" of it. But, everyone said "it's a tough sim"
so I just kept on trying. Well, this weekend I took apart my TSW wheel to
replace the steering pot and found that the old pot shaft was actually bent!
Turning the wheel would make the whole pot and its bracket gyrate around in
all sorts of motions. There's no telling what kind of input the game was
getting. I installed the new pot and adjusted the set screws very carefully
for correct alignment and smooth motion. I can't believe the difference! By
comparison, the car now feels like it's on rails. I can actually move to the
ideal line on the outside edge of the track without worrying that I'll
twitch right off into the grass. It only shows that you have to keep
checking your equipment in sim racing as well as the real world. No wonder
even F1RS and GP2 were difficult for me as well -- maybe I gave up on them
too soon.
