Try a BIOS change to a newer version or switch brands.  Tweak the PCI
latency timer setting if your BIOS has it.  A more costly solution
would be to get a new motherboard.

I have a compaq presario 9234 with P120mhz win95 48 megs ram
...when I ran the DMATEST I got I\O =11.5 mb/sec and DMA
performance= 21.3 mb/sec-in win95
  ....similar results in DOS.
I don't have any-noticable- problems runing any of the games but
some of them run-slightly-  slower than expected.

Thank you in advance for any information in improving the DMA test
rsults...............
