Incredible,
4 years and more alive than ever.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GPL

Thanks to the programers who gave us that masterpiece.
And at least the same portion to all those guys, who keep GPL alive by creating
cars, tracks, utilities...

Andre,
you poor guy.
10 more years to wait until you can enter the GPLRank Seniors League.
I'm in there since this June :-(

If GPL would have been 98% oval tracks...I'm guessing they would have
gotten the tire modeling in. Would have simplified things a little bit,
eh?

Yes, that was a nice race Malc - I should point out that the reason I went
off at the end of the straight was that my screen went blank (it was an Int
Long race and my screen timeout was set for 20 minutes!).

Needless to say, that was a tad frustrating after I'd done all that work in
the previous 10 laps to catch up with you, but I was even more amazed to see
you run out of fuel on the last lap!

Congratulations on nursing the car round the last half of the circuit with
no fuel, anyway!  ;-)

Cheers! Thought it was you but I couldn't remember ;-)

I set my screensaver for 2 hours now for exactly that reason.
Apparently once you have set any screensaver in win2k (powersave doesn't
seem to count) it'll do this in games (like gpl I guess) that don't disable
the screensaver, even if you disable it.
My monitor is set to go into standby after 20 minutes or so at the desktop,
but not in gpl. I set the screensaver to 2 hours then disabled it, but
presumably if I didn't touch the keyboard or mouse while in gpl for that
long it would still go blank.

hth & thanks for the race ;-)

I doon't know if it works with XP or even win2k but enditall2 has a
button to  the screen saver and the power saver features.  That alone might
be worth using the utility, even if you left all the other processes
running.

Thanks for the suggestion, I might have a look at that ;-)

You could've just done a shift_r at the hairpin(where you'd lose the least
time)...unless shift-r's weren't allowed in this particular race.

Shift-R was allowed, but I tend to avoid using it if I can. Had I stopped
short of the line I would have, and in fact I did an Int Short at Monza last
night where I rather stupidly clumped the barrier that sticks out at the end
of the Parabolica on the last lap, while in the lead, and knocked the left
rear wheel off my Eagle!

The car slid for quite a while but I shift-R's about 50 feet from the finish
line & just beat the 2nd place driver ;-)

Nothing like a bit of drama to spice things up ;-)
