I recently tried to get the SE for Win95 to load on my machine at home
and work. It would not load. It just stopped after clicking on the
"DirectX installed" button. The EA web site says that it needs the
latest DirectX drivers. I had already loaded them from the Monster
Truck Madness Trial demo (which worked perfectly) so EA was no help
on that matter. I did load it under DOS and everything worked fine.
The extra tracks and other options doesn't make the upgrade from the
original NFS worth it. They do offer you a $15 dollar rebate, but
you have to send them the original's CD. The one thing I did like was
that the warrior car and extra tracks (rally and mirror mode) appear
in the selection windows after you apply the "patch".
No, the tracks from the original NFS will not work in SE because they
are compressed now (Maybe that's why it runs a little slower).
I would not buy SE as an upgrade, but if I had the extra money laying
around (ha! ha!) I would buy SE and keep the original, also.
