Spectrol pots?

by Richard ZZ Busc » Sat, 13 Nov 1999 04:00:00

Hi guys,  I've just recieved my new Spectrol pots for my TSW2. I bought
them from Mouser. Now if someone would be so kind as to tell me how the
wires go, I could wire them up and away I go. When I look at the back of
the pots the pins are in a triangle, with one at the top and two below,
I assume that is the way they go. I figure the top one is used, but
which of the bottom ones do I attach a wire to? On my TSW I figure the
white wire on top and red wire goes where? Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance guys :)

Richard, The terminal in the middle should be hooked to term #1 on your
db15 connector. The terminal on the left as you are looking at the
potentiometer from the shaft side, should go to terminal #3 on your
connector. Make sure to calibrate with an ohm meter and check for
continuity before you install. If it's a 100k pot then calibrate to
about 52k when the wheel is at rest in it's center position. With an ohm
meter you can test the total value of the pot by ohming the two lower or
outside terminals on the pot. Then divide the total value that you get
by 2 and you should be somewhere around 50-52k. Good luck.  DBH

Thanks Dave :) I have an ohm meter and have centered the pot for
steering, I just needed to know which terminals to connect. All is well
now.

Thanks again.

Looking at a standard pot, solder lugs facing towards you, shaft pointed
straight up,the lugs are # 1-2-3 left to right. The Spectrol pot is labeled
on the side 1-2-3,again point the shaft straight up,look at the pot pin
markings,#1-3 are the pins closest together,#2 is set back.Hope this
helps.8)
