high precision pots ( spectrol )

Hi Guys

In my homebuild racing wheel I used cheap pots.
They didn't last very long so I bought bourns pots.
In GPL my steer starts to shiver after about 2 months heavy use
A while ago I've read a few posts about spectrol pots.

In the Conrad catalogue there are two kinds of spectrol pots
one with cermet as conductive material ( type 249 ) and one with conductive
plastic ( type 357 )
My question is what is cermet ??? and which of the two is the best ????
The expected life ( rotations ) isn't mentioned
So which one to choose

Thanks in advance !!!!!!!!!!

You want to use the Spectrol model 357,7/8" single turn conductive plastic,50k
Linear taper.Rotational life is 2,000,000 turns, they last awhile.:)
If you're in the U.S. it's model 157.http://www.mouser.com has them for $12.80
each in quantity of 5 or more.Mouser stock # is 594-15711503
Hope that answers your question.

The highest quality pots I have seen can do guaranteed 10 mill revolutions. And
they can do 340 degrees of movement.

The degree of movement is quite important, because being limited by 180 degrees
feels bad. My own homebuilt wheel can do 300 degrees, and this is more realistic,
and it increases the accuracy in the middle because the possible values are spread
out over a bigger sector.

In fact, the only bad thing about the Logitech FF is the small zone, I think. Only
grud knows why they didn't used a bigger zone...
