Gaming modem

My connections with the 3 com modem are better than with my previous modem
a usr 56k isa modem)  I have had no warp at one race and when there was
warp at one race it was a quick blinking (I would normally get a total warp
for about 2 seconds, now its changed to a fast blinking whenever warping has
occurred, think Christmas lights.  The only bad thing is from I see is that
3com says better ping, but for me it has not changed (still in the 200ms
range using kali. (I think they lied about the better ping part.  The
connection is more stable though (The most important part) I also for the
first time have connected to race with a latency of .08 (My old modem was
(.13  99% of the time)  As always your mileage may vary.

By the way,  HELP!! I now live way in the sticks, Where I use to live (10
miles away) my normal connection was 45k, now I can only connect at 24000,
(latency of .8 at 24000 not to bad hey?) :)
Can my phone company do anything to fix my lines or am I screwed?  I heard
from someone that your phone lines are only guaranteed up to 9600 BPS? Is
this true??  My modem tries to connect at v.90 but such a bad connect always
connects at 24000. any help would be better than none!
Thanks!!!
