How do you set up direct connect ?Do you need the program installed on both
computers? Do you hook a phone line from one modem to the other modem
direct? I have a lab top ,can I use it? Where do you hook the 2nd player
joy stick? and any other information you can give me I want to set it up so
I can race with my son. Thank You.

The easiest way to ' Direct Connect ' two machines is with a null modem
cable.  You can buy a 6'-10' for around $10-$15 or you can get the required
connectors and 50' of wire from Radio Shack for about $13.00.  I made a 50'
footer for a friend, and the picky sucker hasn't had any complaints.

Yes, you need it installed on both machines.  And, the computer in answer
mode has to have the CD in in order for it to work.

No, you don't hook the modems together.  You have to hook one of the serial
ports of one computer to the serial port of the other computer.

The second player hooks his joystick up to the second computer.

Laptop?  Depends on how fast it is, how much memory it has.  Would imagine
it will run fine on one of those superduper P166 laptops..  :-)
