Thinking about making a track...

I'm kicking around the idea of doing this as a first track project:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

It's the course used for the Pittsburgh Vintage GP and it has some
bigtime elevation changes and runs through one of the most gorgeous
urban parks in America.  Would any of you guys actually be interested
in driving this baby?

No.  Nothing personal...

For GPL.  Although it would definitely be a fun track in SCGT or F12*.

In addition to the trackmap I posted, check out the photos on
http://www.pvgpa.org to get an idea of the elevation changes and
scenery.  It's a really cool course (all public roads too).

Yes, absolutely!

I spent a lot of time there, and can help out with the
changes in that area since 1967.  Forbes Field still
existed, for example.  :-)

Most likely what I'm going to do is the modern VGP course, then a
67era VGP course (if that's possible, schenley park has changed
significantly so I'll have to make some detours) and then what I
*really* want to make are some fictional 67era pittsburgh street
courses showcasing some of the different city areas (the first one
probably would focus on south side with a short loop across the mon
via the old point bridge and back over smithfield st bridge to
carson).  Need to get my track editing skills polished up before
attacking that one.

If I do a 67 VGP course I'd definitely appreciate help with the Forbes
Field graphics. =)  I'm already trying to figure exactly how to model
Phipps Conservatory for the modern one and the glowing sky for the 67
one. =)

Thinking about making a track...

Jason,
I hate to tell you this, but I am already working on Schenley Park for
GPL. I have completed the track profile and am currently tweaking the
altitudes and laying in the surrounding hills' altitudes. I never told
anyone in the GPL community (except my brother) about my plans because I
wanted to surprise people with it.
My problem is twofold: 1) I have never been entirely comfortable with
the idea of "claiming" tracks. If you wish to build a track, I don't
feel I have the right to tell you that you can't because I'm working on
it. And 2) I work full-time and take classes part-time, so I'm really
time crunched. I started working on the track in June and probably won't
finish it for at least another 6 months because of my schedule.
I am certainly willing to share the workload with you if you're
interested. The most important thing to me is that the project get
finished. E-mail me if you're interested.

Michael Lowery
