GP3 with keys

I'm glad that Geoff Crammond has included support for keyboard
control with GP3.  I always have used keys for GP2.

I am also pleased to see that it will run well in software
mode.  It cost me an absolute fortune after I bought GPL to be
able to play it beacause it was unplayable without 3D support
and a non-keyboard controller.

GP3 with keys

I used to use keyboard with GP2, as I had no other option, but I felt
that the implementation was like cheating. Just too easy to get on the
power early, turn in perfectly, etc. without having to control the car
properly. On the other hand, this is probably what allowed it to sell
so well, since the masses could control an F1 car quite easily. Most
get too frustrated too easily and give up. I had 4 of my friends into
gpl, but their interest quickly died when they took so long to get
anywhere. Now they are into Gran Turismo 2, Vrally, etc. I guess this
is the difference between a compromise and commercial success (GP2)
and a quality sim that fails to pay its way (GPL)
