Being a new user of PSP, I'm hoping someone can explain the use of the
magic wand in PSP.

The magic wand is a selection tool, like the marguee (the dotted line
rectangle) and the lasso (should be obvious). The difference is that the
magic wand tries to find areas similar in color to the pixel you clicked
on.

Here's an example of how to use it: Let's say that you have a logo you want
to paste on a car. The logo is irregularly shaped, but it's placed on a
white background. You can click on the white background with the magic wand
and it will select everything but the logo. Now select "Invert Selection"
from the menu and only the logo will be selected. Select "Copy" to copy the
logo to the clipboard. Now make the car image window active and select
"Paste as Transparent Selection" and the logo will appear as a selection in
the car image, MINUS the white background.

The magic wand selects an area (god thios is hard to explain:)of one
colour. Say you have a hollow circle thats pink. The background is
purple. You then fill the inside of the circle blue. Now if you use the
MW on the pink area of the circle and use the cut option it will cut
out the whole circle and leave a circle of the background colour in
the toolbar. So if you draw a line around a complex object, lets say
an elephant, if you click with th MW on the line you just drew and cut
you will be left with a one colour silouette of the elephant:)
Thats the best I can explain

BTW this isn't the best place to put this type of question
