be sure to read the whole review, it's a good laugh ;-)

I personally am not a fan of Nascar, CART, or F-1 games because they are all
too realistic to me. I personally am the type of guy who would rather jump
into a game with real life vehicles and start racing through a city than
worrying about tuning my car to a race and racing around a boring oval.
However, with the superb physics, causing crashes in a game (or racing in a
simulation) has never been as fun!

All of that, and I am not even a Nascar fan! If you are a Nascar fan, you
will play this game a lot, I'm sure. Even once you have conquered all of the
tracks and got bored with the game, you will have the urge to go flip some
vehicles off a wall, and you'll fire the game up again.

Is NASCAR 2000 out in stores yet, or when is it going to be released?

I don't think he's so wrong with this point of view!
Judging from the demo the best fun in this game was really to blow those
Dales Junior and Senior and Jeffs and Bobbys and whoever into the walls ;-)

I think this game can be extremely helpful for the guys who have to get rid
of their agressions after blowing their engines in NASCAR3 :-)

(may the retail version be better!)

Why are idiots like that even hired to write reviews? Sort of reminds me of PC
Gamer's T. Liam McDonald and his brain-dead review of GPL a while back.

I don't have a problem with "brain dead" reviews as long as the reviewer
qualifies their opinion with their background and interests.  I think it is
just as fair to write a review of GPL from a general gamer's perspective so
that the casual racer knows what they are getting into, as long as this is
stated in the pre-amble to the review.  *** sim racers know to pass
that review by.  But, in fairness to general gamers reading PC Gamer (the
world does not revolve around us simmers) I think it is also important for
racing sim fanatics who review sims to also state their preferences for
accurate simulation above all else.  I think it is even more important for a
NASCAR game than for GPL, for example.  NASCAR titles will draw in a wide
variety of people.  GPL probably just appealed to a narrow group of "car
guys" anyway.

Interesting argument and VERY well said.  I agree that virtually EVERY
sim (or game) should be reviewed by reviewers coming from BOTH sides of the
fence.  Having a GPL *** review Nascar 2000 would be a BAD thing to the
casual gamers, but having a casual gamer review GPL would be a BAD thing,
too.  BUT, if the reviewer states his background and preferences and then at
least _attempts_ to objectively review whatever game, both types of gamers
can read the review by the person with a background and preference similar
to THEIRS.  IOW, casual gamers should read reviews of games by casual
gamers, and simmers should read reviews by simmers; regardless of the genre
of the game reviewed.  Unless a VERY objective person could take BOTH
reviews and combine them to get a "big picture."

Randy MacGruder (Digital Sportspage) manages quite often to write reviews
with information for both types of reader.
