I'd consider upgrading if my system needed it, but I can OC my V3 to
200mhz (from 166) and it runs very nicely. 1280x1024 in almost every
game, no problem. But for it to not run on v3 full stop? That's a bit
rough for such a popular card.

I've forgotten F1RC with GP3-2000 running nicely. Is it really that
much better?

Hmmm, others have said it's pretty bad. I guess it's all personal
opinions eh? It'll be a while till I'll be able to run it anyway
<sigh>

Yea, as I said, I think my sound problem has to do with the crappy Creative
XP SBLive drivers.  there are supposed to be new ones next week.  On the
other hand, with the Sonic fury selling for 42 I'll maybe get one!

Not trying to be a jerk, but your running an old card from a company no
longer in business. Sounds like its needed to me.

Well I recall getting a Hercules Thriller simply to run GPL at a decent
rate.

This is the first time since I would suggest a single game is worth the
upgrade.

I think the general opinion on the sound is superb. Only if there are frame
rate issues it goes all horrible (stepped). So once the frame rates are
cured the sound is heard in its full glory.

Now this does seem like Deja Vu.  First folks bought Thrillers and Voodoo
3's to run GPL.  Then they found the great sound GPL gives via the SB Live.
NOWWWWW...we are seeing folks getting ready to dump the Lives for Game
Theatre's.  All because of one game...impressive.

Maybe.  But if his system runs everything ELSE he plays, it might be hard to
justify buying another graphics card for ONE game...  I've been there
before...<g>

Quite right, mind you I did buy an entire SYSTEM simply to play GPL
<grin> so maybe its worth it if it really IS as good as everyone says.
Mind you, I heard a lot of good things about F1RC and have been much
less than impressed with that one. Eye candy and that's all in my
book.

I might have to wait until a patch comes out for all the problems that
seem to be there ATM.
