Upgrading GPL v1.0.0.0 problem

by Jody Han » Tue, 05 Nov 2002 10:08:09

Have looked long and hard to find a solution so if anyone can help, it
would be great.

I brought a copy of GPL a couple of weeks ago.(In New Zealand)  I have
tried to upgrade to V1.2.
Have found no reference to how to tell which country version I've got. I
can only assume from the $ sign on the
package that it is the  US version. In that case Papy says that the file

GPL12_us.exe upgrades from  1.0.0.0 to 1.2.0.1 but when you run it , it
says it
upgrades from 1.1.0.2 to  1.2.0.1. If you do run it , it comes back with
the
error "gpl.exe is not a  valid previous version and could not be
upgraded".
I have spent many hours searching different GPL sites looking for a
solution.
Can anyone help?

Look on your cd, the updates you need are most likely on the disk in a patches folder.

Upgrading GPL v1.0.0.0 problem

Just a shot in the dark, but what country is specified in the readme.txt (in
the sierra\gpl\ folder) under "section IV - Contacting Sierra" ?

My UK version has:

United Kingdom

Cendant Software International Limited
Main: (0118) 920-9111
Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Fax:   (0118) 987-5603
Disk/CD replacements in the U.K. are 6.00,
or 7.00 outside the UK. Add "ATTN.: Returns."

Presumbly yours will show the relevant country for your copy.

Alternatively just try all the patches until you find the one that works ;-)

I was hoping it wasn't that obvious! But it was. Thanks
