CPR- Not Buying It

by Bria » Sun, 18 Jan 1998 04:00:00

I'm just going to come out of lurk mode long enough to let any vendors who may
be around (MS, Papy, etc) that I have read a lot of what has been said about
CPR. I've basically ignored the 'Sucks' messages and the 'Glide or whatever vs
whatever' arguments. My opinion on the game is that I will NOT buy it, ever.

Some of my reasons are:

AI seems to be awful. I don't race over the internet and never plan to so AI is
very important to me.(Discovered through monitoring the ng.)

Bad, bad, features. No yellow flags?!? And this is a CART sim???? No tire
temps?? (All discovered through monitoring the ng)

The demo was less than impressive. A brown track??

Biggest reason for not buying the sim is that most of the people here hate the
sim. And the childish way the MS rep (Dean) left the ng.

My reason for posting this? Maybe the next time a vendor decides to ignore
r.a.s. opinions as insignificant maybe they will think twice. Opinions here do
affect sales. Maybe not much but they do.

I just feel sorry for all those that had to buy the sim to find out.

Very well said; The "magazine" reviewers are all bought and paid for,
retail clerks usually either don't know or don't care, so this NG is about
our only trustworthy source of information about the performance of these
sims. Sure, as you noted, we
may have to wade through a few tirades and polemics (I've even provided a
few!), but one can fairly glean the truth out of the sum of all opinons. I
make it a point to tell any gamer that I come into contact with about this
and similar Newsgroups and I urge everyone to do the same. Thanks. Long
live R.A.S.

And formed their own opinions, and did or did not bother to
take advantage of any return policy.

Yep. Here in Australia I am already seeing once reputable Mags
succuming to the bribes they are obviously recieving. All they are good
for is demo CDs. When cable modems are commonplace I doubt I'll have a
need for Games mags at all! Just this NG to see the comments of those
lucky enough to have these 30 day money back deals :)
