Nah, if anything the advent of 3D cards 'split' the demoscene into 2
distinct camps, Those that still use the limitations of 64k or even 4k file
sizes, and those that create bloatware demos using DirectX, Vertex/Pixel
Shaders and more.

I personally prefer the smaller stuff to the multimegabyte demos, shows alot
more skill.

Get up to date & your demoscene fixes at http://www.racesimcentral.net/

My own recommendation are: Heaven7, anything by Aardbei (even if you get
nothing else, get  "Please The Cookie Thing"), 3state & the godly
Farb-Rausch.

Okey, I've given it 2 attempts now - both resulting in corrupted zip-files.
I give up...  next time make the video smaller or use something other than
winzip to pack it.

I have begun using download Acelerator and got very good results with the
file.  about 176 kbs which is way higher than my normal dload speed,(thanks
for nothing attbi) but the file still took over 20 minutes to dload...can't
IMAGINE how many nights it would tie up a phone line...:)

Ed, don't give up. I got it on the third try and it is worth the effort.
There is a mirror site up as well. The link is in the racesimcentral forum,
as I recall.

My pleasure, was not sure whether to post or not, very OT for RAS, however I
thought it made an amusing counterpoint to Joachim's 200Mb monster, to see
an alomost equal length animation / graphics and music at 64k :) that and
the fact that Just about the only people who I know who have heard any of
Timmo's music (Joachims video's soundtrack) are also fans of the demoscene,
or the old C64 SID music composers.

There's really no point in zipping it at all. DIVX files are already
very, very dense. Zip at max only takes 3% off, and greatly increases
the problems of corruption (which btw, I have had in both attempts to
d/l this movie).

Thanks to all for the comments.
I've just put a smaller (in size) version of the video online, available
through the same website: http://www.joachimblum.de/pushthelimits.htm
It's 320x190 pixel, ~70 MB. The big one is still available from the
Racesimcentral mirror. Thanks to the admins for hosting it! (I only have 300
MB webspace so I can't host both versions. I'm looking for more webspace,
though...).
I didn't zip it this time for the reasons already said in this thread. I
hope that now everyone will be able to download/watch the video. Sorry to
all of you who had problems with it :(.

Best regards
Crash

I don't see a link for the new file yet... Anyway, turns out my ISP has finally
come to its senses and raised the download speed limit, so I'm downloading the
200MB version right now.
