NR1999 - Rendition problem

Sent my Dad the Reactor V1000 card I had from years ago.  Then when I
got my twin voodoo2's I sent him my Thriller 8mb PCI card.

Got the card installed and working ok in 2d (windows) and the 3d looks
good and much faster on his p200 K6 machine but NR1999 is tempermental.

He'll be racing and the screen will lock up, sound will continue and the
eventual crash follows.

I believe in the early days of NR1999 this was a problem for others.
Was there ever a fix or workaround for this?
