Nascar2 Question (Hey Papyrus!)

This is more or less directed at Papyrus, but if anybody can answer,
I'd appreciate it.

I understand that the Pit stall is not selectable.  That is law
engraved in stone (for now).  Why in the world did Papyrus make the
single stall the _very last one_ (i.e., the first one you pass)????

Most racers, when they get choice, usually take stalls further up the
row (like the first one?) so when they make their stops, they can just
floor it and get out of Dodge real quick.

just an insight...

Nascar2 Question (Hey Papyrus!)

The truthful answer is that we weren't able to fully program the AI
cars to pit in any arbitrary pit stall (particularly given the
variability with which humans pit.) Basically, no matter what we've
tried, the AI cars would crash into humans, even if they were pitted
well. (We still see this behavior now in N2 with disturbing
frequency.)

So the "solution" we arrived at was to have the human(s) all pit
together and at the start of the front stretch pits, and all the AI
cars pit together (since they're programmed the same, they can pit
very similarly to each other). This minimized (but didn't eliminate)
the number of chances an AI car had to collide with player cars during
pit stops.

Since pit stall selection is an important part of the real NASCAR
weekend, it is our intention to provide that to the user in the first
product in which we can implement it. (along with other realism
enhancements, like double file restarts).
