Rendition ICR2 question

I have heard that the new ICR2 rendition version does not work with the
cyrix processor - is this true? I have looked back in the newsgroup but
was unable to find out if this is the case.

If I had to guess, I'd say it will not be done.  Seems to me like they
would want to put their efforts into ICR3 (or whatever they decide to call
it) rather than re-working an existing title.  Perhaps these enhanced
tracks are a hint of what to expect.

Weird.  I had pretty much decided on the Intergraph board (I
wanted ICR2-3D, I wanted it this week, and had heard that Sierra's
board wasn't available yet), but I had some interest in the Sierra
board (A10, maybe?) so I gave them a call yesterday (same as you).
I was told that the Sierra board was on back order and they did not
know when it would ship.

I then called Intergraph Express.  I got lost for a few minutes
(I don't have a touch-tone phone and the operator connected me to
the Reactor Help Desk instead of Sales, but the guy there connected
me to the right dept), but was able to order my card with no problems.
I got the "economy" shipping and it should be here by Wednesday
afternoon.  BTW, Intergraph charges your local sales tax, so its a
bit more expensive.

Same companies, same day, totally different experiences.  Weird!

Out of the box, yes this is true.  However, there is a patch on
Intergraph's ftp site that fixes it.

> CRAs the Customer Support Manager For Intergraph Computer

Systems - Workstations and Consumer Products I'd be curious what
office you called.  Intergraph Express is shipping card as of
October 14 overnight.  The support we give I believe is
recieving good reviews.  We have advertized on the web and in
some of the *** magazines how to obtain the card.  It is
unfortunate for you that Intergraph is a very large multination
company and that the Reactor is a fraction of our very large 3D
Business such that every office on the planet might not be
familiar with this product.  I believe you would have found,
however, the Intergraph Support is of a very high caliber.  I
will make sure the local offices have the correct information to
pass to customers.

A quick word of caution, the fix on Intergraph's site will only allow
you to run INDYSAFE.BAT.  I get around 15fps with INDYSAFE on my Cyrix
P166+ (all detail on and at max).  I see most people get 30fps with
INDYFAST.BAT, unfortunately INDYFAST.BAT crashes on a Cyrix.  I have
corresponded with someone who has the same motherboard as I
(SuperMicro P55T2S) and he assures me that INDYFAST.BAT runs fine on
it with an Intel processor.  Also the lap counts are wrong on a Cyrix
based machine.  All races at 100% length are slightly over 6 million
laps. If you add the converted NASCAR tracks the lap counts drop to
slightly over 3 million.

Patrick,

There's a fix out on the Rendition site now. I think the bug was the same
one that plagued the NASCAR 2 demo.

Chris,

I have an Intel P-166 and I get the same thing as far as the bogus lap
counts go, it seems to be a bug.  I can run indyfast however and get the
high frame rates.

Buy the Rendition, get IRCII free, then buy Nascar2.  If you hate IRC2,
just mail me your copy.  I will pick up the postage.

This is fixed on the Intergraph BBS and should appear on the web
and ftp site today.  The reace length problem was a bug in
Papyrus's software.  They called us and told us what happened
and got us a fix quickly.  Also, the Indyfast should work.  If
you are having a problem, then please call 1-800-226-4891 and
let us work the issue with you.

Hmm, must be something about my motherboard and the Cyrix. I recieved
my Intel 166 yesterday, dropped it in the motherboard and fired up
INYFAST.BAT without a hitch.  30 fps with all detail is fantastic!
