GP2 (or other sims) rituals

by od.. » Thu, 12 Mar 1998 04:00:00

We all know that F1 drivers have certain rituals they have to do
before driving. I think it`s Barichello who always has to get into the
***pit with the same leg. (His right I believe.) And Ayrton Senna
used to wear his gloves inside out...

So, when PLAYING sims, wether it be GP2, F1RS, Nascar 2, ICR2 etc...
Are there any rituals you simply HAVE to do? Maybe i`m the only one,
but with the old F1GP on the Amiga, I always had to drive wearing my
Nigel Mansell/Texaco Havoline baseball cap. It seemed to bring me
luck. In GP2, I only race a championship race if I know I can get
through the whole thing without having to save.

In the race, I save right at the start, and my ritual is if I crash
within 3 laps, I restart the race. Don`t ask me why it`s 3 laps.

So, anybody else, or am I just a lone neurotic?

Ah, thats just cheating. I myself said that if I crash off in the first
lap then the race can be restarted (reg flag situation) but if it
happens again then though, no more spare cars!

I always save the game just before the signal to start you engines.

Always have a lit cigarette in the ashtray just before loading the game.

And no, you not the only one with F1GP on an Amiga (even though it
needed a bit of tweaking to get it to work on the Amiga 600), though I
only now play GP2 on the PC.

Cheating shmeating, who cares:) Seriously, I rarely have to restart
more than once anyway, but I have had races where i`ve had about 10
restarts, though with them, once I realise it`s getting silly, I just
drive like a maniac anyway. Manage to get Trulli about 20 feet in the
air once:)

Not just me. Cool:)

Now I come to think of it, when I smoked, I used to do this. The
ritual was this.

Qualifying -> Smoke a ciggy -> Start the race -> Finish race -> Smoke
a ciggy.

Also, when we did 2 player on the same machine, when it was my friends
turn, I used to smoke:)

Same here. F1GP is a classic though.
