Is there a patch for Need For Speed: Porsche Unleased that will let it run
on Win2K Pro? It locks up at the "Loading..." page.

I believe you delete or rename the 'gimme.dll' file.  alt.need-for-speed
will have more details.

There is no official patch that will fix this memory leak. Deleting
gimme.dll or reducing the paging file size (swap file, virtual memory) has
been the only solutions. But recently someone came up with the "final
solution". Take a look here:

The patch mentiond in the second link is probably the same as you will
achieve going through all the steps in the first link.
I think it makes W2k (or XP) emulate W9x memory managment for NFS PU.

Thanks, Jone.  A few months ago I was feeling nostalgic & spent hours trying
every trick I could find on the net trying to get NFS5 to run on my win2k
box.  Following the instructions in the first link you list is the first
thing that's worked.
