F12001 Sound Question

by Paul Jage » Sat, 19 Jan 2002 13:05:19

I have always had a problem with stuttering 'pit crew' communications while
driving in EA's F12001. I do not have any hardware conflicts, and have even
changed my sound card from a SB Live to a Sonic Fury card. All to no avail.
Now though I have realised that it really only happens on the first lap of a
race; its almost as if the 'pit crew' commentary is being directly loaded
into the game the first time I hear it, hence the frame rate stuttering. On
subsequent laps all is well and 'smooth' frame rate wise. No lowering of
other graphics options  (or resolutions)makes any difference. Any ideas how
I resolve this?

I have an Athlon 1.4, 512mb ram, Win98 OS, Geforce 3 Ti500 (all drivers
tried and am presently using 21.83), Sonic Fury sound card. I have set my
'Virtual Memory' to 400 min and 1280 max, and vcache settings of
MinFileCache=18432
MaxFileCache=18432.

  I had severe stuttering in F1 CS until I quit overclocking my motherboard.
Still can't run full graphics, but with a 100FSB setting I get much smoother
framerates...(old Pentium MB)
