F1RS & Righteous 3.0 Drivers :(

by Ivan M. Olar » Thu, 25 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Hi, I recently installed the new Righteous 3dfx 3.0 drivers and had no
problem at all until I attempted to run UbiSoft's F1 Racing
simulation.

as it turns out (after an hour of two of re-installing software,
including f1rs and the new drivers as well as the old one) it seems
that this particular program (F1RS) does not recognize the 3dfx card
with the new 3.0 drivers.

I received a 3dfx card missing error, and could only install the game
with a 3d3 version instead of the full blown 3dfx version which i had
been playing.

I'm not sure how to pursue this, and was wondering if you had any
answers or suggestions. I would like to stay with the latest drivers,
but for now the only practical thing to do was to go back to the 2.x
drivers that had no conflic with F1RS.

It would help If I knew just what got updated in the 3.0 version of
the Righteous drivers, or to get a solution with this problem that I'm
experiencing.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

If you can get the 3DFX version installed, then try running f1voo.exe in
the f1rs dir instead of the Ubisoft loader.

Copy the files GLIDE.DLL and SST1INIT.DLL from C:\windows\system to
somewhere safe, install the new drivers and then copy those two files
back.

Hi

glad I'm not the only one with this problem :-(

My system crashes completely now when I use the Direct3D version ! -
everything's fine until the track loads up, then blank screen, swear &
reboot.

I wonder if the drivers at the 3DFX site are any different to those at
Orchid ?
I'd like to try them but I think their server's down or something.

Let me know if you fix it - I'm getting F1RS-withdrawal symptoms !

Phil
