ICR2 with keyboard

I have quite a good setup but I can't get out fast lap times (e.g. my best at
Elkhart Lake is 1:44.329).
I use keyboard to steer and I wonder, whether this is more difficult than using
other controls.
My question is: Does anybody have experience using keyboard, joystick and
steering wheel and can say what differences there are (esp. in times)?
