Viper Racing: force feedback disappears in lap 7

by Jon Wille » Sun, 05 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I'm playing Viper Racing 1.1 on a new Logitech Wingman Formula Force.
Twice, I've had the wheel go totally limp in the middle of the seventh
lap of an eight-lap race.  Once at Silverdale in a full pack race and
once at Castlegreen in a ghost car race.  It's very disconcerting, as
I find myself wildly overcorrecting without the feedback.  At
Castlegreen, I crashed coming up through the gulch in the last lap and
the effects came back.

With the exception of this problem, the wheel works fine in Viper
Racing 1.1, Grand Prix Legends 1.2, and Sports Car GT 1.551.  It also
seems to work fine in the demos for Nascar 3 and Monaco Grand Prix 2.

Update: this problem occurred after about thirty laps in the NASCAR
2000 demo, as well.  One minute, the wheel has strong resistance; the
next, it moves freely.

It happened to me too with NASCAR 2000 demo, I had to restart the computer,
then it worked again (and kept resistance).
