Mr. Mak has complained so intensely about GPL that I've gotten the
impression he has a hidden agenda. While it's not unusual to make known
our feelings regarding new games whether they be sims or arcade, (each of
us have done this). But to constantly continue to bombard us with his
thoughts, as if his opinion is the only one that counts, is becoming
tiresome.
Mr. Mak has said that the cars should not require sliding around the turns
and*** out the tail to make the good times, perhaps that's true. I've
achieved some good times with the demo by using an approach of moderate
braking and moderate use of the throttle. Without any way to change the
setup, I feel a bit disadvantaged, but I expect the full game to have the
ability to alter the car setups.
I'm watching the Argentine Grand Prix and to my amazement, Michael
Schumacher leads in his Ferrari, and he's*** out the tail at nearly
every corner. He's literally sliding the car through the turns, and this
is in a modern F1 car with the new extra wide, only slightly grooved,
Goodyears.
I'm old enough to remember the Grand Prix races of the 60's and 70's, and I
can remember more than a few cars losing it on the turns. I guess my point
is, I'm sure that every person who reads this NG is aware of Mr. Mak's
feelings toward GPL. He's based his deeply felt feelings based upon a
pre-alpha demo that doesn't allow one to alter the setups on the cars.
Personally, I have enjoyed the opportunity to practice the demo, and while
there are some alterations I'd like to see, I will wait until the full
version is released before making a final determination.
