GP2 - 1996 Power & Grip Levels Required

by Kulvinder Singh Matha » Tue, 03 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I've patched my GP2 using GP2 Editor v2.12 written by Slobodan Blanusa
and have now got all the cars in the 1996 livery with correct helmets,
names and high noses to boot!

But, I've found that in Ace level the cars are lapping faster than the
real cars did in 1996. eg At Susuka, the sim cars are qualifying like
1m36.xx and that the real cars were doing 1m38.909 (Villenueve for
pole). What I've done using GP2 editor v2.12 is to decrease the teams
power levels so that pole position time is now about 1m38.900. And
I've also decreased the power levels for Race & Practice but I've
found that the power reduction required to achieve sim lap times of
1m44.xxx is considerable compared to the qualifying power levels. I'm
hoping that that when I get in the car then I will have power levels
on equal terms as the other sim cars.

Is this the right approach to take? Should I really be reducing some
power but also the driver's grip? And shall I also do this to the
player's car? (ie my own).

Could someone point me in the right direction and also let me know
what figures Ishould be putting in for all the power, grip, weight,
etc levels that are available in GP2 Editor 2.12.

Thanks in advance to all of you out there.

Also, a special thanks to all of you programmers and cars painters
that have turned GP2 brought GP2 up to date :-)

Almost right here: My point of vue is decreased power by about 40-45 BHP
for top
teams. My own set for this is
Williams  760 QUAL, 750 RACE
Benetton  757 QUAL, 747 RACE -->they had AIRFLOW all season causing loss of
HP with same engine as WILLIAMS
Mclaren   765 QUAL, 745 RACE -->they have a special engine for qualyfying
only
Ferrari     760 QUAL, 745 RACE--> again like Mclaren "special" engine"
Jordan    765 QUAL, 755 RACE --> been known to have most "peak" HP but
really
not managable POWER thru out the hole curves
FORD ZTEC 735 QUAL, 720 RACE (Sauber)
FORD V8     715 QUAL, 700 RACE (Minardi,Forti)
Ligier Mugen 735 QUAL, 715 RACE
Tyrrell Yamaha 730 QUAL, 710 RACE
My point is definitly reduce grip in race/practice compared to
qualification,although
the overall grip has increased compared to 94' season --> Use a MID fast
circuit (like Silverstone,Magny Cours),match the corresponding
qualification time
and their race time with grip level, until you have close corresponding
times.

LAST COMMENT if you play with the players/computers WEIGHT/POWER YOU'RE
CHEATING, and if by any chance you upload your new HOTLAP,to any WEBSITE,
it will be easily recognize by the fact that if somebody has the NORMAL GP2
and replays your hotlap, while viewing the lap,at some point, your car will
just go crazy, and crash anywhere.... Try this, change the WEIGHT,and then
replay
one of your previous HOTLAP you've saved---> you'll see what i mean..
Reverse is
true (HOTLAP with modified weight, and then replay with a unmodified
GP2.EXE)
Good luck and best regard,Eric
