In the way that all the cars go around the track in the same direction.
Even if some seer had seen in his/her crystal ball that this year's
Australian Grand Prix would have been won by a Brit with a German in
second, who would have been able to predict that the Brit would be
Irvine (not Coulthard) and the German, Frentzen (and not Schumacher).
Cheers,
Paul

Nobody I guess.....The reason could be that Irvine is Irish. :-)

Would be a lot more interesting if they picked random directions!  How about
making the figure-8 Suzuka a *real* figure 8!

Ooooh! Now we're on difficult political water here. Depends whether you're a
Unionist or a Republican - and I am neither. He hails from Northern Ireland,
which is technically part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland and they played the British national athem under a Union
flag for his victory. However he now lives in Dublin.
Does it matter, though? I hate petty nationalism and tribalism. I just said
British to make a point - I take no view at all.
Cheers,
Paul

I have to ask you (off topic) do you ever get stopped and have you repeat
your name again when you meet someone?

I'm afraid you've lost me completely. Do you mean that "Paul Jones" is a common
name? I had a mate called John Smith at university. We had to sign in to some
event and both gave our names and the girl behind the till gave us a look that
meant, "What are you two trying to hide?". There are 3 Paul Joneses where I
work.
Cheers,
Paul

Do you suggest that they start going in different directions?  What
type of racing are you comparing F1 to if you say it's boring because
they all go in the same direction?   Unpredictable race results mean a
less boring race in my mind.  Now had the McLaren's led the whole race
as it seemed they were going to early on, that would have been a
boring race.  But once you get some of the mid-tier drivers running up
front with all the pressure on, you never know what's going to happen.

This post really says something about F1, that apparently the most
interesting  thing about it is the country the drivers hail from.

Sorry, Dave, I was being ironic. I love F1 and thought yesterday's race was
a corker.
Btw what's the <> symbol for irony?

>Why, John?

Irvine hails form Northern Ireland, and hence, is British.

He races on a Irish (Republic of) Racing license due to his own comments- As
it was cheaper to sit at the time.

Ok, so I can't stand it anymore and I've got to show my ignorance.
Who are David Hobbs and Derek Daly?
