This is my previous answer to the question:

If you like speed,  sound,  and raw power NHRA DR is the way to go,

If you like bracket racing tinkering to get that extra consistency required
in Bracket Racing then get Burnout.

I have both and have fun with both.

HI  VINCE, I have the burnout game and is great,i play on mplayer, and
the game itself has many adjustments and set ups.i read the review on
the nhra game, they have few setups and the game is just running race
after race, which can get old after awhile.in the burnout game much of
the time is working in the shop where you can build
engine, trans, suspension, and many other things then make test runs before
going to the races.i found out that the keys work best, tryed the wheel
and then the joystick, too slow, and since your going straight it's not
that hard to keep straight with the arrow keys.it's a cool game,so far i
have only got down in the 7 second et's,they have classes for any car
set up,can run heads up or O.B. single race,or an event or on mplayer
aganist real people,
make sure you get the new burnout it's called players choice
eddition, has a red camoro on the box not the yellow nova.in the new game
you can paint the cars ,has more cars, cockpit like
nascar2,nitroxide,better engine sounds and much more

Did they ever fix the 3dfx support for NHRA?

No patch yet.

Best solution I found was to download the "Reference Drivers" from 3dfx.com
Better but not as good as Burnout.

Great. They are losing at least one sale. Mine... It may not matter
to them at all though.

No thanks... I already have the reference drivers from 3dfx. At this
point I think the game may be a bust, 3dfx-wise.
