Nascar3 lockups

by Kevin Bowe » Sun, 14 Nov 1999 04:00:00

When I play N3 in glide the screen locks up but I can still hear my car
running and the game continues on. Usually this happens after playing for
15-20 minutes. It does not do this in D3D, but the game stutters a little
here and there in D3D. So I want to play it in glide.Anyway I have to reset
my PC after the lockup I can't alt-tab(of course) and ctrl-alt-del does
nothing. I'm getting real tired of this. I have no problems in any other
games Q2,Q3,Halflife(for hours),NFS3,Tomb3,Unreal,Grand Prix Legends,etc.It
can't be heat can it? Cause I'll play Q2,Q3 for hours on Gamespy with NO
problems. There is nothing running in the background except Explorer and
Systray. This is a clean install of Win98. My system specs=

Pentium3 450(at 450)
Abit BE6
CL Banshee(latest drivers)
CL SB16
CL 32x CD-rom
CL 4224 CDRW
WD 4.3gig hard drive
T2 Wheel
DirectX7.0
anything else needed?
any suggestions? I'm goin' nuts!

I think I have the answer. I have similar system and had same problem with
N3 and a few others. If heat is not the culprit, the answer is as simple as
raising the voltage for the cpu. Keep raising until stable, my be6 had to go
to 2.4v, and even got slight performance increase.

These systems now take much juice with agp and usb ports. Hope this helps.

Oops I left one thing out, it's a PCI card. Should I still raise the
voltage? I think its time for a new video card : )
