These models look good! as recommended in the GPL manual.
Just wondered how much of the the beast was plastic or metal?

Is the engine block metal with plastic  exhaust etc..
Are the springs chromed plastic  or the real thing ?

Anyone care to comment?

I've got one sitting on my desk at work.  Well, not truly GPL (Clark's
car from '68 Kyalami) but close enough.  All of the Exotot models are
about the highest quality you can get in "off the shelf" die cast models.
To answer you're specific questions, the body is entirely metal, engine
is plastic but well detailed (individual plug wires from to each cylinder,
wire mesh screens on top of each injector stack, etc...), suspension
members are chromed plastic, springs are actual coiled wire.
In my opinion, you get what you pay for with the Exoto models.  Check
out the link below for some pictures.  The page for the Ferrari 312B has
the best closeups.  The Lotus isn't quite as detailed as the Ferrari, but
it's close.

I think Klaus Hoerbrand, author of the WinMip tool,  deserves a
mention here, as he offers lots of modell cars, all sizes and prices,
eg. 1968 Brabham BT24 and Ferrari 312.
